Finally I work on the tip and the flint.  I just basically make sure the flint strikes and it is clear of mud.  The tip I take out and use my tip cleaner on it.  All you need to do is make sure the wire fits through and there is nothing restricting the flow of fuel.

Other Tips:
If you cannot seem to get water to flow through the dripper, open the valve all the way and blow a mouthful of water through the bottom of the drip valve.  It sounds gross, but it will work if you get dirt of a small rock lodged in there.

Always bring a lighter with you.  It works wonders when your flint gets gummed with mud or wet.  I also use a lighter to test for leaks all around my lamp.  I would much rather find out there is a leak with it in my hand where it can be easily put out if there is a leak.  It would be no fun to find that out with it on your head.
