Name of Cave: American Bottoms I
Nearest town: Greene County
Cavers: Johnny Shultheis, Adam, Dave, Ryan, Ray.
Comments: We made our way to very far downstream section of the cave.
It consisted of wall to wall water varying from stoop to 10' high.
There was some low airspace points two. Adam and I, made a survey
crew went ahead 400' and started surveying as the others started and
worked toward us. The day had a lot of good long shots and we
surveyed a little over 1000' for both crews. Once done, we decided
to see what was ahead. We came to a really low airspace of 4" or
less for about 25 ft. We decided to leave it for another day and
exited the cave.
Name of Cave: Waynes Cave
Nearest town: .Bloomington IN
Cavers: Johnny Shultheis, John Shultheis, Josh Shultheis, Brenda
Shultheis, Tim McLain.
Comments: We planned on trying to make it to camp 4. Once we got
in, Brenda hurt her knee so we all turned around and helped her get out.
She sent us back in, and not even halfway through the crawl, John had a
major pack failure. I also had one on the way out the first time
and was using Brenda's pack. So the three remaining, set on to
rest of the cave. We made it out of the crawl and stayed too far
left and ended up in the Lake Passage. Then we made it to camp 2
after 4 hrs. We went on and came to a formation passage that
ended. After a long meal and break. We set out one more time
to get to camp 4. We were on the right path, but one wrong turn
put us in the American Bottoms Section of the cave. Since we were
all tired, we decided to exit and have a much deserved beer after our 12
hrs journey.
